SEVERNE HGO

OLYMPIC RACING

The Severne HGO is a first of its kind. A foil racing sail built especially for the official iQFOiL class and will be the official sail for the 2024 Paris Olympic games. HGO is based on Severne’s already successful foil racing platform with multiple titles under its belt.

In 2019 World Sailing called for Sea Trials to select the equipment for the next Olympic Games in Paris’24. When this opportunity presented itself, Gonzalo Costa Hoevel(PWA Foil world champion) took the lead of the project together with Ben Severne in creating the ultimate foil racing sail. Countless hours of R&D and brainstorming resulted in a sail that not only will you faster on the racecourse but also deliver top speeds.

The HGO focuses on speed and ease of handle with a reduced luff curve and re-distribution of shaping. The control gained from these design features allows for any foil racing newcomer to get to competition level speeds in no time.

TECHNOLOGY

– MODIFIED OUTLINE WITH REDUCED FOOT SIZE TO ENABLE USE ON A FIN.
– DURABILITY FOCUS WITH ADDED SAIL REINFORCEMENTS AND STRONGEST BATTEN SPEC.
– LESS EXTREME LUFF CURVE TO REDUCE STRESS ON MASTS.
– XL CAMS TO REDUCE LOAD ON MAST AND IMPROVE ROTATION.
– REDISTRIBUTION OF SHAPING FOR EXPANDED WIND RANGE AND LIGHTER FEEL.

Severne Blade 020 - Wave sail

SEAMLESS HEAD PANEL

This high abrasion area is made from only 1 panel and does not carry any exposed seams, preventing any potential weak point in this area. As a result, seam creep and seam-related failure have been eliminated.

DIRECT DRIVE TENTIONERS

DIRECT DRIVE TENSIONERSThe DDT 4 and DDT 5 tensioners directly connect the tube batten to the leech of the sail. This new design eliminates the heavy section of tube that is needed for the standard batten tensioner and being smaller, has superior aerodynamics. It is used on all lower tension battens in the OVERDRIVE M2 and the MACH 2.

LEECH REINFORCEMENT

LEECH REINFORCEMENTLeech area at batten tips carry extra reinforcement for extended durability

REFINED LEADING EDGE

Tuned entry with a finer leading edge rotation for reduced drag.

OPTIMIZED AERODYNAMICS

By aligning the battens with the direction of airflow drag has been reduced. Clean panels with minimal seams further improve the aerodynamics.

HIGH PERFORMANCE MONOFILM

Custom high end monofilm construction to maximise performance and minimize weight. Construction mimics the exact sail prototypes that were tested by our racers.

BOOM HEIGHT REFERENCE

Boom height gauge for ease of reference.

CAM AREA REINFORCEMENT

CAM AREA REINFORCEMENTArea around all of the cams have extra reinforcement for mast sleeve protection.

ACTION WINDOW PANEL

Crucial to big fleet starts, slalom racing and close contact. Keep a close eye on your competitors and your own positioning during racing.

OPTIONAL CLEW POSITIONS

OPTIONAL CLEW POSITIONS

POSITION 1: Use this position for the lighter wind days. This clew position gives you more power and upwind angle.

POSITION 2: This setting allows the sail to open up and breathe more. It gives you more speed and more control.

EASY FIX REMOVABLE OUTHAUL HOOK

EASY FIX REMOVABLE OUTHAUL HOOKThe HGO carries the removable outhaul hook in the top position. This can easily be moved to the lower clew using the SEVERNE HEX-4 batten tensioner.

THERMOFORMED TACK FAIRING

THERMOFORMED TACK FAIRINGProtects your board from impact and neatly covers the foot detailing. It incorporates the rope stash pocket for easy storage of your downhaul rope.

MOLDED SOFT EDGE

MOLDED SOFT EDGEWith recessed grooving, covering any vulnerable stitching the moulded soft edge encloses the hard edge long the foot of the sail and protects the stitching from wear along the board non-skid.

3&4 ROLLER TACK PULLEY

3&4 ROLLER TACK PULLEYRoller tack pulleys are matched to the sails downhaul requirements and aligned for friction free downhauling and threading ease. Rig your sails with the Severne Hardware Division extensions for function and simplicity.

SEAMLESS FOOT CONSTRUCTION

A single panel in the foot area with hidden load patches and zero exposed stitching eliminates seam abrasion and seam creep in this high load area. Maximum durability and minimum weight.

SEAM PROTECTION PANELS

SEAM PROTECTION PANELSPanels reinforced with kevlar strips protect the foot area seems from abrasion from the board when the sail is in the water or when launching.

SEVERNE APEX  490/530 MAST

SEVERNE ENIGMA 210-250 CARBON BOOM

SEVERNE BASE

SEVERNE RACE EXTENSION HD

The Severne Apex mast comes with SlipLok technology. Alternating texture patterns in the boom area increases friction for less slippage. This eliminates the need to overtighten the boom, decreasing stresses on the mast.

Using the Severne boom with the Lockjaw front end, you only need to apply minimum force for it to sit perfectly on the mast without sliding.

You should not apply more than 10-15kg of pressure on the end of the lever for it to close. This can be done with two fingers.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
Overtightening the boom head can cause damage to your mast.

iQFOiL SENIOR BOARD

STARBOARD iQFOiL 95

Carbon reflex construction

Dimensions: 220x95cm. 196 liters

High-performance foil racing board that is capable of upwind/downwind racing on a fin if the conditions get really tough. 95cm wide for convenient air travel. Gets planing in minimum winds and makes racing in 5 knots of wind and above possible. Powerful in light winds, controllable in strong winds, convertible to fin mode and built-in durable and lightweight Carbon Reflex technology.

Drake iQFOiL 68 (men) 66 (women) included.

Extra-large cutaways, more than double the size of the regular Formula’s, reduces the wetted area and improves take-off onto the foil.

SHARP RAILS AND BEVELED NOSE

The sharp rails in the tail allow the boards to get planing and reach take-off speed more easily. Additionally, the board will bounce off the water if you clip the water surface instead of sticking and throwing you into a catapult.

The bevelled nose improves aerodynamics and ultimately provides more control at high speeds.

RECESSED MAST TRACK

Deck concave and recessed mast track for a more vertical sailing position while closing the gap between the sail and the deck of the board.

FIN INCLUDED

Drake iQFOiL 68 (men) 66 (women) for challenging water conditions and strong winds.

iQFOiL SENIOR FOIL

STARBOARD FOILS iQFOiL CARBON

Components: 900 front wing | 255 tail wing with -2 degree | 115 Plus fuselage | 95 Plus fuselage | 95cm iQFOiL mast

Back to back 2017/2018 World Champion and Vice World Champion, making it the most successful racing foil in windsurfing to date: Starboard’s Race foil started the iQFOiL project and it is the foil that made foiling in the Olympics a possibility. Its innovative racing geometry was the breakthrough that enabled foiling to cover Windsurfing Olympics’ wind range and performance requirements. Compared to the original Race foil, the iQFOiL foil set has been upgraded with a stiffer UHM Carbon mast and a 900 front wing for extra light-wind performance. It comes with two new Plus fuselages, the 115cm Plus for upwind downwind racing and the 95cm Plus for higher winds and racing formats with more reaching. The Plus fuselages have an adjustable tail wing angle that allows the rider to increase control in high winds or increase power in light winds.

The iQFOiL 95cm Carbon mast is an extra-stiff version of the standard 95cm Carbon mast, built with 44 layers of ultra-high modulus pre-preg carbon fibre: for more performance, more control and a wider wind range.

TAIL WING ADJUSTMENT

iQFOiL sets are supplied with six angle spacers (-2° / -1.5° / -1° / -0.5° / 0° / +1°) and with a new 255 tail wing that has -2° built in.

The recommended tail wing angle on the 115 Plus is -2°, so we recommend starting with the 0° spacer. For the 95 Plus the recommend tail angle is -1°, so we recommend starting with the +1°, spacer. You can reduce tail wing angle for more speed and control, or increase for more power.

TWO FUSELAGES

95+ fuselage

115+ fuselage

The iQFOiL sets are supplied with both the 115 Plus fuselage and the 95 Plus fuselage. The 115 Plus is recommended for extra power and for maximum upwind/downwind performance. The 95 Plus fuselage is recommended for reaching courses, for long-distance marathons and higher GPS speeds.

ALSO INCLUDED

Other items included in the set: 900 Front Wing, 255 -2° Tail Wing and the Team Bag Size L.
