Description

12’2″ MAKO MAKANI

Who has seen the Wind!?

With the popularity of the 14′ Mako MOLAKAI Downwinder, customers have asked for a shorter version of the board for smaller, lighter paddlers. Born is the Mako MAKANI!! This carbon fibre board is shaped with a 12’2” length, a 27.5” width and a very aggressive rocker built for the rollers. Paddlers will enjoy the “playfulness” of this board as they downwind their favourite body of water. The Mako MAKANI’s is light, stiff and fast, living up to it’s Hawaiian name for “WIND”.

CONSTRUCTION TYPE

kahuna Mako

kahuna MakoThe MAKO series is built with a 3K carbon fiber overlay material instead of a traditional fiberglass cloth. The 3K carbon fiber is stiffer and lighter than fiberglass resulting in a quicker more responsive board. For additional board strength, a bamboo veneer top and bottom layer is placed over the EPS core. The board is then wrapped with biaxial carbon fiberglass cloth and another layer of 3K carbon for the entire standing zone. Once all the layers are set up by hand, the board is vacuum bagged. The vacuum bag process results in consistent curing and evenly distributed resins throughout the overlapping layers. The MAKO series boards have a unique, one of a kind brushed look, with strong, stiff construction to make these boards true performers on he water.
